New Board elected for ISES Brazilian Section ABENS

ISES is happy to share the news on the newly elected Board of our official section in Brazil, ABENS, the Brazilian Solar Energy Society.

The newly elected members began their two-year terms on April 1st, 2025, with a commitment to advancing the association's modernization and expanding its outreach. The composition of the new Board reflects considerations of gender and regional diversity—an approach initiated in previous administrations. Given Brazil's continental scale and the growing participation of women in the solar energy sector, it is only natural that ABENS's leadership reflects the diverse interests of its members and the national workforce.

The new ABENS Board for the term 2025-2027 was elected on 09 March 2025 and consists of the following members:

  • President: Marília Braga - UFSC
  • Vice-President: Samira de Azevedo Santos Emiliavaca - ISI-ER
  • First Secretary: Aline Kirsten Vidal de Oliveira - UFSC
  • Second Secretary: Carla Freitas de Andrade - UFC
  • First Treasurer: Marcelo Pinho Almeida - USP
  • Second Treasurer: Gilberto Figueiredo Pinto Filho - UFF
  • Fiscal Committee: Roberto Zilles - USP
  • Fiscal Committee: Izete Zanesco - PUC-RS
  • Fiscal Committee: Aline Cristiane Pan - UFRGS
  • Fiscal Committee: Ricardo Rüther - UFSC

Congratulations from ISES to the newly elected ABENS Board - we are looking to all future cooperation, especially on this year's Solar World Congress 2025 which will take place from 04-07 November 2025 in Fortaleza, Brazil.
