Special Event: Progress and Challenges Towards Achieving 100% Renewable Energy in South America
Preceding the ISES Solar World Congress 2019 in Santiago, Chile from 4-7 November, a special event will be held at next week’s Intersolar South America, introducing and exploring opportunities to achieve 100% renewable energy supply at regional, national, and multinational levels in South America. Under the title of "Progress and Challenges Towards Achieving 100% Renewable Energy in South America", ISES President Dr. Dave Renné together with Prof. Ricardo Rüther (Federal University of Santa Catarina - Brazil), Dr. Roberto Román (Mechanical Civil Engineer at SERC - Chile), Dr. Rodrigo Lopes Sauaia (CEO ABSOLAR - Brazil) and Marcelo Luis Álvarez will address the role of renewable energy, and in particular solar energy, in meeting the needs of the power sector, which is showing significant growth in South America.
This event takes place only two months prior to the global solar community gathering in Chile at the Solar World Congress where the topic of 100% renewable energy - ISES mission and vision for more than 50 years - will be explored in depth with the congress continuing and reinforcing to connect the global research and academic community with decision makers from different Government sectors, industry, financiers and practitioners.
