March Webinars
In March 2020, ISES welcomes you to join us on two webinars - please see all information on the individual webinars below and register through the ISES HP.
ISES organizes monthly webinars and invites all interested members to join (free-of-charge). Focusing on solar energy related topics of high relevance in science, technology development, market and industrial implementation, social issues, training and education our webinars offer something for everyone.
10 March: ISES Infographics on Solar Thermal Heat for Industry Processes
- Tuesday, 10 March - 1PM GMT/UTC
In this webinar, ISES is happy to introduce the latest installment of the ISES infographics on the topic of solar thermal heat for industry processes to you.
Started in 2018, the ISES infographics are a great a tool for everybody to use when discussing the possibilities of renewable energy and in this case specifically how solar thermal heat is already implemented successfully on an industrial scale.
With this new set of infographics focusing on the potential of solar thermal heat application for productive uses, ISES wants to introduce you to the many great technologies already being implemented today and to give you an outlook into future technological developments. In many parts of the world, the transformation of the energy system has mainly focused on the electricity sector. The heating/cooling, transport, industrial, and agricultural sectors are often overlooked. This significantly slows down the energy transformation as, for example, nearly half of final energy consumption is spent on heating & cooling. In the future, more focus needs to be put on sector coupling and a carbon reduction plan for all aspects of our society.
Three expert speakers will join us on this webinar and discuss solar thermal applications for:
- solar thermal heat for brewing processes
- solar thermal heat for mining processes
- solar thermal heat in the form of "solar steam" for the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals
The webinar will last one hour and will include a Q/A section for the audience.
25 March: IEA SHC Solar Academy: Solar heat and electricity: PVT solutions for buildings and industry
- Wednesday, 25 March - 2PM GMT/UTC
Over the past few years, PVT systems that combine solar thermal technology and solar PV have gained more attention. In 2018, IEA SHC started the Task 60 called “PVT systems” to better understand the applications of the technology. PVT solutions can be used in several ways which Task 60 is currently investigating with heating or cooling for residential, commercial, administrative or industrial buildings is the main application. This webinar will introduce the current status of PVT technologies, show examples of systems, analyze the markets and trends, talk about the key findings of Task 60 and open new horizons.
The webinar will welcome the following three presentations:
- Jean-Christophe Hadorn: Why consider PVT systems?
- Laetitia Brottier: Overview of the PVT industry and perspectives
- Daniel Zenhäusern: PVT systems figure of merits and KPI
The webinar will be moderated by Bärbel Epp, founder and managing director of the German consultancy solrico for solar market research & international communication.
Q/A Session: The 90-minute webinar will include a 30 minutes Q/A session.
The webinar is organized by the Solar Academy of the IEA SHC Programme and hosted by ISES, the International Solar Energy Society .
