ISES at COP24 - Side Event and Interviews

With COP24 happening in Katowice, the International Solar Energy Society joined the worlds leading politicians, researchers and climate agencies to strengthen the voice of renewable energy in the face of the recently released IPCC report as well as the second volume of the Fourth National Climate Assessment of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) released by the US government, the one urgently pledging the global warming at 1.5° and the other highlighting the disastrous consequences of continuous climate change.

ISES president, Dr. David Renné addressed these reports and the steps ISES will take to strengthen the voice of renewable energy in light of these reports in his November sunburst blog which you can read here.

At COP24, ISES hosted a official side event "Stronger Together: Showcasing Success of Renewable Energy Technologies Working Together" together with the partners of the RenAlliance, which ISES co-founded in 2004. Together with the World Wind Energy Association, the International Hydropower Association, the International Geothermal Association and the World Bioenergy Association, ISES welcomed Hans Josef Fell, president of the Energy Watch Group as a special guest to the event. Hans Josef Fell presented a new study on 100% renewable energies in Europe across all sectors, which was published by the Energy Watch Group and the LUT University.

The side event was live streamed and you can watch the recording here - click "Join the Event"!
